About the Chevrolet Bolt

Launched in late 2016, the Chevrolet Bolt EV was a landmark vehicle, beating the Tesla Model 3 to market as the first mass-produced electric car to offer over 200 miles of range at an accessible price point. Built on the BEV2 platform, it features a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a punchy 200-hp motor that provides surprisingly brisk acceleration. While its upright hatchback design prioritises interior volume and practicality, the low-mounted battery ensures a stable centre of gravity. It remains a significant milestone in the transition to electric mobility, though early models were later subject to a major battery recall.
