About the Bentley Eight
Introduced in 1984 as a more accessible entry point to the Bentley range, the Eight was based on the Mulsanne but featured a distinctive stainless-steel wire-mesh grille. To achieve a lower price point, early models were equipped with cloth upholstery and straight-grained walnut, though many buyers opted for leather upgrades. Mechanically, it utilised the venerable 6.75-litre V8 and featured a firmer front suspension setup than its Rolls-Royce siblings to provide a more driver-focused experience. It remains a popular choice for collectors seeking a usable, understated example of the classic SZ-series saloon.

Bentley Eight fun facts
- The Eight was the first Bentley since the 1920s to feature a mesh radiator grille, a design cue that has since become a signature for the brand.
- It was originally launched with a price tag of £49,497, specifically designed to sit just under the psychologically important £50,000 barrier.
- While intended as a 'budget' model, the Eight actually outsold the more expensive Mulsanne in several key markets due to its sportier image.
