About the BAR 002
The 002 carried the first of BAR's factory Honda engines, the RA000E V10, beginning a partnership that eventually led to Honda buying the team for 2006. With reliability the priority, it looked very similar to the 1999 BAR 01, and it was launched at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London on 24 January 2000. Jacques Villeneuve and Ricardo Zonta both scored on its debut in Australia after a pointless 1999, and Villeneuve's best results were four fourth places, in Australia, France, Austria and the United States. BAR finished fifth in the constructors' championship with 20 points, level with Benetton but behind on podium finishes.
