About the Aston Martin Virage
Launched at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show, the Virage was the first entirely new Aston Martin in two decades, replacing the long-running V8 series. It featured a 32-valve evolution of the Tadek Marek V8 with cylinder heads redesigned by Callaway to meet global emissions standards without sacrificing performance. Despite its aluminium body, the Virage was a heavy grand tourer, known for its immense presence and hand-crafted interior featuring Connolly leather and Wilton wool. It represents the final era of traditional low-volume manufacturing at the Newport Pagnell factory before Ford-era modernisations took full effect.
