About the Williams FW27

The FW27 was Williams's 2005 car, the final Williams with BMW power and Michelin tyres before BMW left to take over Sauber. Like the Renault R25 and Minardi PS05, it used a six-speed gearbox when most rivals had seven. New drivers Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld scored regularly, taking second and third at Monaco, and Heidfeld finished second from pole at the European Grand Prix, but a win was out of reach. Antônio Pizzonia replaced the injured Heidfeld from the Italian Grand Prix, and Williams finished fifth in the Constructors' Championship, its first winless season since 2000.
