About the Williams FW23
The FW23 was Williams' second car with BMW power and its first on Michelin tyres since the FW07 in 1981, driven by Ralf Schumacher and Formula One newcomer Juan Pablo Montoya, the former Formula 3000 and CART champion. Its powerful P80 V10, well-designed chassis and Michelin tyres that worked well in the heat brought four wins, beginning with the team's first victory since 1997 at Imola. BMW's engines were less reliable than their rivals', giving a finishing rate below 50 per cent, and the chassis was less competitive on high-downforce tracks such as Monaco and the Hungaroring. Williams finished a clear third in the constructors' championship with 80 points.
