About the Spyker F8-VII
Designed under Mike Gascoyne and James Key in a short time after Spyker's takeover of Midland, the F8-VII used 2006-specification Ferrari 056 V8s for cost reasons. It was not competitive, and a B-specification F8-VIIB planned for Turkey was delayed to the Italian Grand Prix after failing the mandatory FIA crash test. Adrian Sutil then scored the team's only point at the Japanese Grand Prix in the F8-VIIB. Christijan Albers, Markus Winkelhock and Sakon Yamamoto shared the second car, and after Vijay Mallya bought the team a modified F8-VIIB became the Force India VJM01 for 2008.
