About the Sachsenring P240

Developed in the former Horch factory in Zwickau, the P240 was East Germany's premier luxury car, intended for high-ranking SED officials and state dignitaries. It featured a smooth 2.4-litre straight-six and American-inspired styling, including a panoramic rear window and two-tone paint. Its production was cut short by a Comecon directive that favoured the Czechoslovakian Tatra 603 as the Eastern Bloc's standard executive vehicle. Today, it is a rare and significant relic of Cold War automotive history, representing the final chapter of the prestigious Horch lineage before the factory pivoted to the Trabant.
