Prost AP04

Prost Grand Prix's final car, a Ferrari-engined machine raced by five drivers as the team ran out of money.

Power
825 bhp

About the Prost AP04

The AP04 used a customer 2000-specification Ferrari V10 and gearbox, with the engine badged Acer after the title sponsor, and ran on Michelin tyres. It was far more reliable than the AP03, and Jean Alesi was classified in all 12 races he started for the team, scoring all four of its points before leaving for Jordan after the German Grand Prix. Heinz-Harald Frentzen replaced him, while the second car passed from Gastón Mazzacane to Luciano Burti, whose two big accidents wrote off two chassis, and then to Tomáš Enge. Prost finished ninth in the constructors' championship and folded before the 2002 season with debts of around $25 million.

Prost AP04 rarity in CarSpot

The Prost AP04 is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 42 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.

Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.

Prost AP04 fun facts

  • Frentzen qualified fourth for the Belgian Grand Prix in a wet-dry session, then stalled on the grid at the start.
  • Phoenix Finance bought the cars and tried to race them in 2002, but the FIA barred the entry because Prost's entry had not been bought and the new-team bond had not been paid.
