About the Prost AP03
Raced by Jean Alesi, Alain Prost's former Ferrari team-mate, and reigning Formula 3000 champion Nick Heidfeld, the AP03 was slow and unreliable, with only 11 classified finishes from a possible 34. Both drivers complained of inconsistent handling and poor traction, and technical director Alan Jenkins was fired after Monaco. Prost blamed the Peugeot A20 V10, prompting Peugeot to reveal publicly an output of 792 bhp, and the dispute ended with Peugeot withdrawing from Formula One. With no points, Prost was classified last in the constructors' championship and received no prize money, the start of the financial trouble that later ended the team.
