About the Lotus T128
The T128 was Team Lotus's 2011 car, known as TL11 before its launch and designed by Mike Gascoyne, Lewis Butler and Marianne Hinson. It replaced the T127's Cosworth engine and Xtrac gearbox with a Renault RS27 V8 and a gearbox and hydraulics from Red Bull Technology, and had a bladed roll hoop similar to Mercedes' 2010 design. Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli drove it, with Karun Chandhok also racing it, and the team never fitted KERS. It was faster than the Virgin and HRT cars all season, although it began the year further from the midfield than the team had expected.
