About the Lotus E23 Hybrid

Lotus F1 Team switched from Renault to Mercedes power for 2015, making the E23 Hybrid the first Enstone car since the Ford-engined Benetton B194 not to use a Renault-based engine. Designed under technical director Nick Chester, it was raced by Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado. The car was an improvement on the troubled E22, but collisions and unreliability cost points, with Maldonado retiring from five of the first six races and the two drivers colliding with each other in Spain and Britain. Grosjean's podium at the Belgian Grand Prix was the highlight, and Lotus finished sixth in the Constructors' Championship with 78 points before Renault bought the team.
