About the Kia Magentis MG
The second-generation Kia Magentis, known as the Optima in other markets, represented a significant step forward for Kia in the European D-segment. Built on the MG platform shared with the Hyundai Sonata, it focused on providing a comfortable ride and generous interior space at a lower price point than its Japanese and European rivals. The 2.0-litre CRDi diesel engine was a popular choice in the UK, offering respectable torque and improved fuel economy over the petrol variants. While it lacked the badge prestige of a Ford Mondeo or Volkswagen Passat, it was noted for its solid build quality and high standard specification.
