About the Jordan 191
Jordan Grand Prix's first Formula One car was designed by Gary Anderson, with Andrew Green on suspension and Mark Smith on the gearbox, and used a customer Ford-Cosworth HB V8 of around 650 hp. The team had to pre-qualify early in 1991, but Andrea de Cesaris finished fourth in Canada and Mexico, and Bertrand Gachot set the fastest lap in Hungary. When Gachot was jailed for spraying CS gas at a London taxi driver, Michael Schumacher made his debut in the car at the Belgian Grand Prix and qualified seventh before his clutch failed on the first lap. Jordan finished fifth in the Constructors' Championship with 13 points, and the 191 is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful Formula One cars.
