About the Ferrari F2002

Developed from the F2001 but much lighter, the F2002 introduced a compact titanium-cased gearbox up to 15 per cent lighter than before, clutchless shifting and upright periscope exhausts. Its Tipo 051 V10 produced 835 hp at 17,800 rpm, and up to 900 hp at 19,000 rpm in qualifying mode, while Bridgestone developed tyres specifically for the car. Michael Schumacher won on its debut in Brazil and clinched the 2002 title at the French Grand Prix, the 11th round, never finishing lower than second in the car. Ferrari scored 221 points in 2002, as many as all the other teams combined, and the updated F2002B won again at Imola in 2003.
