About the Ferrari 248 F1

The 248 F1 was Ferrari's 2006 car, an update of the F2005 built for the new 2.4-litre V8 rules, with Aldo Costa leading the project as Rory Byrne moved into a consultancy role. It kept the F2005's wheelbase thanks to a longer gearbox casing, and its rear-view mirrors were mounted on the outer edges of the sidepods. After a slow start, an aerodynamic upgrade at San Marino brought it level with the Renault R26, and it won seven of the last nine races. Michael Schumacher's engine failure while leading in Japan effectively ended his title hopes, and Ferrari finished second in both championships, losing the Constructors' title by 5 points.
