About the Chevrolet Monte Carlo
The 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS represents the penultimate year of the rear-wheel-drive G-body platform, a favourite of the NASCAR circuit. Powered by the L69 High-Output 305 cubic-inch V8, it delivered a respectable 180 hp through a four-speed automatic transmission. While not as raw as the muscle cars of the 1960s, its distinctive aero-nose, rear spoiler, and F41 sport suspension made it a standout performer in the smog-restricted 80s. Collectors prize the 1987 model for being the last full production year of the notchback SS and the final year for the rare Aerocoupe homologation variant.
