About the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray C8
The C8 E-Ray represents a radical departure for the Corvette, pairing the Stingray's 6.2-litre LT2 V8 with a front-mounted electric motor to create the first all-wheel-drive 'Vette. This 'through-the-road' hybrid system provides instant low-end torque, making it the quickest-accelerating production Corvette at launch, even besting the high-revving Z06 to 60 mph. It shares the Z06's wider body and carbon-ceramic brakes but is tuned for all-weather grand touring rather than track-focused aggression. The small 1.9 kWh battery allows for a 'Stealth Mode' for silent departures, though the car remains a performance-first hybrid that never needs to be plugged in.
