About the BYD Song Max
Launched in September 2017, the BYD Song Max marked a significant turning point for the brand's design identity under the direction of Wolfgang Egger, formerly of Audi. It introduced the 'Dragon Face' aesthetic, featuring a prominent horizontal grille and sharp LED lighting that would soon define the entire Dynasty series. While positioned as a practical seven-seat MPV, it prioritised a car-like driving experience with a monocoque chassis and a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The interior was dominated by a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, a feature that became a BYD hallmark. Series production of the petrol-only variant ended in 2022 as BYD transitioned exclusively to electrified powertrains.

- The vehicle's name refers to the Song Dynasty, continuing BYD's tradition of naming its core models after Chinese imperial eras.
