About the Aston Martin DB6
The DB6 was the final development of the iconic DB4/5 bloodline, designed to offer more practicality and stability than its predecessors. It is most easily identified by its 'Kamm tail' rear spoiler, which significantly reduced high-speed lift, and a wheelbase extended by 3.75 inches to accommodate two adult passengers in the rear. While it moved away from the Superleggera tubular construction of the DB5 in favour of a more conventional steel platform, it retained the legendary Tadek Marek-designed straight-six engine. The DB6 represents the pinnacle of 1960s British grand touring, blending high-speed performance with a more refined, spacious interior.

Aston Martin DB6 fun facts
- King Charles III owns a DB6 Volante MkII that was famously converted to run on bioethanol made from surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese-making process.
- The DB6's Kamm tail was inspired by aerodynamic research from the Project 212 and 214 Le Mans racing prototypes to improve rear-end stability.
- Despite being more practical, the DB6 was initially controversial among Aston purists who felt the Kamm tail and higher roofline spoiled the purity of the DB5's silhouette.
