About the Arrows A22
A development of the promising A21, the A22 was hampered by a second engine change in two years after Renault bought Supertec. Tom Walkinshaw signed an exclusive, cheap deal for the Asiatech V10, a private development of Prost's Peugeot engine, but it was less powerful than the Supertec and suffered reliability problems. With a very small fuel tank, Jos Verstappen in particular used the light car to run strongly early in many races, yet the strategy brought only one point, at the Austrian Grand Prix. Rookie Enrique Bernoldi, who brought Red Bull backing, partnered him as Arrows finished tenth in the constructors' championship.
