About the Arrows A21

The all-new A21, by Mike Coughlan and Eghbal Hamidy, who had designed the similar-looking Stewart SF3, combined a revised Supertec V10 with a strong aerodynamic package and a much lower centre of gravity than its predecessor. It broke the lap record in pre-season testing at Barcelona and consistently had some of the highest straight-line speeds of the 2000 season. Pedro de la Rosa looked set for podiums at Hockenheim and the A1-Ring before a spin and a gearbox failure, while Jos Verstappen's season peaked with fourth at Monza. Unreliability limited Arrows to seventh in the constructors' championship with seven points, although both drivers enthused about how fast the car was.
