About the Mercedes-Benz MGP W01
The MGP W01 began life as the Brawn BGP 002 and became the first car of the works Mercedes GP team after Mercedes bought the 2009 championship-winning Brawn squad. Designed under Ross Brawn and John Owen, it was raced in 2010 by Nico Rosberg and the returning seven-time champion Michael Schumacher. Rosberg took three podiums, at Sepang, Shanghai and Silverstone, while Schumacher's best results were three fourth places. The team tried a longer wheelbase from the Spanish Grand Prix to improve weight distribution, and finished fourth in the Constructors' Championship with 214 points.
