Haas VF-16
The car that launched Haas in Formula One, scoring points on its very first start in Melbourne.
About the Haas VF-16
The VF-16 was the first car of the American Haas F1 Team, designed and built by Dallara and run as a close technical client of Ferrari. It used Ferrari's 2016-specification 061 power unit and shared parts including the gearbox and suspension with Ferrari's SF16-H. Romain Grosjean finished sixth on its debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix, making Haas the first start-up team to score points on debut since Toyota, and then took fifth in Bahrain. Grosjean also scored at the Russian, Austrian and United States Grands Prix, while teammate Esteban Gutiérrez's best result was eleventh.

The Haas VF-16 is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 0 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
Haas VF-16 fun facts
- The name derives from Haas Automation's first CNC machine, the 1988 VF-1, whose V stands for vertical; Gene Haas added 'F1' to unofficially mark it as the company's 'Very First One'.
- Dallara built the car, marking its return to Formula One 24 years after it last supplied Scuderia Italia in 1992.
- Grosjean's Melbourne sixth came after the team used a red-flag stoppage to fit its most durable tyres, which he ran to the finish without another stop.
