About the BMW Sauber F1.06
The F1.06, originally known as the Sauber C25, was the first car entered by BMW as a full team after it bought Sauber, ending the Hinwil team's long run of Ferrari engines. Designed by Willy Rampf, Jacky Eeckelaert and Seamus Mullarkey, with Heinz Paschen responsible for the P86 V8, it regularly contended for points and received improvements at every race. Nick Heidfeld scored a podium at the Hungaroring, and Robert Kubica, who replaced Jacques Villeneuve during the season, added another at Monza. BMW Sauber finished fifth in the Constructors' Championship with 36 points.
