How it works

An ordinary street. Then, a Testarossa.

Every drive, walk and car park becomes a chance. A few seconds from spotting it to holding it.

CarSpot's scan screen. The street photo is an AI illustration.
  1. 01

    Spot and snap

A shape you don't recognise at the lights. Open CarSpot and take the photo.

  2. 02

    Identified in seconds

AI reads the make, model and year. It may not always be exact, so check the details on your card.

  3. 03

    The reveal

Your card lands with its tier, BHP, 0–60, top speed, estimated value and a stamp of where you spotted it.

Six tiers

Common is where it starts. Unicorn is the story.

Every model gets a rarity score from 0 to 100, from its estimated value and either its power or how few were made. How often players spot it can move it up or down one tier.

  • Common+10 XP
  • Uncommon+20 XP
  • Rare+40 XP
  • Epic+80 XP
  • Legendary+160 XP
  • Unicorn+320 XP

Rarer tiers earn more XP, and spots that are rare around you earn bonus XP. Supercars and limited runs rank higher.

CarSpot is a car spotting app and car identifier. Snap a car and it becomes a collectible card in your garage, with a rarity tier, specs and an estimated value. Rarer cars earn more XP as you level up, and the Community map shows where car spotters are finding cars.

Snap a car and AI identifies its make, model and year. Identification may not always be exact, so check the details on your card.

A rarity tier, BHP, 0–60 time, top speed, estimated value, specs, collector notes and a stamp of where you spotted it. About 1 in 50 cards is a holo, and the first player in a city to spot a model gets a First Spot badge. Estimated values are directional, not appraisals.

Photos you scan are sent to our server for AI identification and are not used to train models. When you're signed in, we keep a private, reduced-size copy of each identified scan for quality and abuse checks, with location data removed and number plates blurred automatically. The unblurred copy is deleted after 30 days, and the blurred copy is kept until you delete your account. Automatic blurring can occasionally miss a plate. Card photos and cutouts are stored on your device, also with number plates blurred. Unless you turn it off in Settings, the pictures on your cards for Verified spots can appear in the CarSpot Feed with your username, after our server blurs plates again and checks them. They stay until you delete the card or your account, and are deleted straight away if you turn sharing off.

Exact spot locations are saved only on your device, where they pin your Spot Map. For the Community map, the app sends only the 1 km grid square of each spot. Verified spots appear there as anonymous heat after 24 hours, never within 1 km of your private home area, and you can turn this off in Settings. The same spots can count towards anonymous town and city totals on our website, which never show who spotted a car or exactly where. When you add a photo from your camera roll, its location is checked against your phone's location to decide whether the spot is Verified, and only the result is kept.
